The Chatty Coach
I overheard on the radio this morning that Virgin trains are turning their coach C into the chatty coach. Now, as someone who loves a good chat and would happily talk all day to strangers, I don’t need a designated seat however I do think this is a great idea.
In 2012, on a train journey from Edinburgh to Leeds, I got chatting to man in the seat beside me – even before the train had departed we had made a connection and were sharing our M&S sandwiches. By the time we had arrived in Leeds we knew each others life stories (albeit abridged). Roger is a very successful businessman, but more importantly is one of the loveliest, and most inspirational people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Over the years he has been a mentor to me, and as I embark on my own business he is once again able to offer words of wisdom.
Now I appreciate not all chats will lead to a ‘connection’ but if you don’t start a conversation with that stranger, you will never know. So I for one will definitely be booking coach C next time I travel.
